of discontinuing the blogging. As you may have noticed, it's been a while since my last post. There are a few reasons for this.
One thing is that I'm trying to spend less time on the computer. That's something I've tried to do in spurts off and on for a while. When I spend too much time on the computer, I spend less time with Davan, less time exercising, less time keeping up the house, less time playing the keyboard, less time interacting with actual other people and less time reading. With the reading, it's not just time on the computer, but also, I find I enjoy reading less when I'm spending a lot of time reading blogs and such. I think my paying attention skills decrease and I have a hard time getting into books. I've read a lot in the last week or so and have been enjoying it.
Now, I do feel that writing my own blog is different than reading emails and reading other people's blogs. It's more of a journaling sort of endeavor, which I think is a positive use of my time. However, I've started again, after a couple year long break, doing a friend journal with my best friend.
A few years back, we decided to have a combined journal. One person would keep the journal for a couple of weeks up to a month, writing in it as the mood would strike, then sending it off to the other person. We did pretty well with it, going through some 4 journals together. Then we just slacked off. We lost track of who had the last one and we just stopped.
Over Chris' last visit, we decided to get going with the journals again. We've made a modification this time, though. We each have a journal and we send it to one another around the first of the month. That way we always have one to write in, as we like.
Over the past couple of weeks, I've been doing my journaling there. Now, I have to say that I find typing more enjoyable than writing things out by hand. It's faster for me and I have spell check. Chris will be the first to tell you that it's nice when things I write go through spell check.
However, I really like having the journal with me when I go places like Davan's gym. I enjoy knowing who my audience is to a certain extent. I find I write about different things knowing only Chris will read it. Some things are more personal.
There are pluses and minuses, but I really don't see me keeping up with both my hand written journal and blogging here. They both fill the same need/desire/outlet for me. My choice is to spend time with the friend journal because I feel like that is more directly and intimately communicating with an actual person.
I know there are people who read my blog, but it still feels very much like I'm just writing out into the void, not being big into the exchange of comments in blogs and the like.
I'm not saying I'm totally sure I won't be writing here anymore, but I'm kind of leaning in the direction of letting it go. As I go through my days, I'll see how that feels. See if I find myself missing it. See if I find myself writing anyway. Just see.
